SHALOM MINISTRIES: NEWSLETTER : MAY 2013

Dear friends

Pontius Pilate, the governor of Israel and personal representative of the most powerful man in the world in those days, Caesar from Rome, asked the carpenter's son a simple question; (John 18:38) What is truth? What he did not realize was that he was actually speaking to The Truth.  This is a question that is asked even today.  People are looking for the truth all over the world.  I am not too concerned about the blatant anti-Christian movements that are trying to end Christianity, but the thing that I am most afraid of is those inside the church, the so called "sheep" who are actually wolves dressed in sheep's clothing.  They preach the Gospel which is a kind of a Gospel, but it is not the pure Gospel.  Just like how the serpent tempted Eve in the garden of Eden, never speaking plainly and directly, but insinuated if God really did say Eve should not eat that fruit? Can a God of love really prepare a lake of fire etc?

I looked up the Oxford dictionary and the meaning of truth is:

The opposite of being false

To be frank

Quality or state of being true

Jesus said in John 17:17 while speaking to His Father, "Sanctify them (set them aside) by your truth, your Word is truth."  John 14:6 He says; "I am the way, the truth and the life." A man who speaks the truth is always at ease, the truth needs no defence, it is beyond attack and if ever the truth needed to be spoken, it is now!  Young people are desperate to hear the truth spoken - always in love, but without any form of compromise.  My prayer is that we as believers would start to speak the truth in love and then we trust for nothing less than Holy Spirit revival.

Robert Browning the famous poet said; "I thirst for truth, but shall not reach it until I reach the source." You and I know that the source is Jesus Christ, but the world doesn't know that yet.  That's why they are running after all kinds of ideologies and all kinds of compromised preaching.  That is why the truth has got to be spoken in simplicity, in purity and with much power and conviction.

For the rest of our appointments this year: Pietermaritzburg with NCF, Durban with City Hill, Israel with God TV and later on with ICEJ and possibly Norway, we intend to speak the truth in love, nothing more, nothing less. There is no time left to preach anything else, we need to get back to basics. Remember the truth does not blush and nothing will set a man's heart on fire like the truth, so we need to speak boldly and speak truly and put the devil to shame.  Please keep us in your prayers that we may finish this race strong for Jesus.

Events:

  • Since I last wrote, we have had the privilege of being at MMC Karoo with Jannie Moolman, his family and team.  What a wonderful weekend!  We saw the Hand of God there and we believe there have been many many hearts changed forever and many households receiving new men coming home. The men braved the elements and the team did an outstanding job organising the campsite and arena area.  We spoke the Truth in love and we trust  the Lord will continue the work He has started there.
  • The USA … revival.  The first MMC in the USA took place this last weekend in Nashville.  The Lord is so faithful!  We were privileged to be a part of Pastor Allen Jackson’s team and World Outreach Church and we are so excited for what the Lord is starting to do in the USA! On the Friday night we were privileged to speak to thousands of men.  The rest of the weekend we spoke to families, which hold such a special place in our Father’s heart. The American folk are amazing and the Lord has given me such a heart for themSEE PHOTOS HERE
  • Please continue to pray for Pietermaritzburg and the New Covenant Fellowship (NCF) who are organising the Harry Gwala Stadium on the 26th May. For those of you who are nearby, we would love to see you there.
  • On the home front we are so excited about what is taking place at Shalom:
  • The Fellowship is growing and we are so grateful to God for that. Marc and Mandy are doing a great job leading the team.
  • The Children's Home is doing so well and I thank God for Jill, my wife, who is heading up the team. Everyone is well and healthy.  A large number of our children are teenagers now and three have ‘left home’ this year.  One of our boys is now at the Sharks academy (professional rugby player), another is studying to become a paramedic, and our third is doing an apprenticeship as an electrician.  Our eldest girl (grade 11)is doing incredibly well with her hockey.  Three of our boys are playing first team rugby for our local high school and one has represented the KZN country districts side. We thank God for what He is doing, we really enjoy each little character the Lord allows us to raise for this time and we also thank the Lord for your prayers and constant encouragement.
  • We are working very hard producing Grassroots (24minutes) and Family Time with Angus (5minutes).  We have a fantastic team who ensure these programmes get out to all the TV stations and radio programmes which we are so grateful to be on.  One of which is Johan Ferreira, a  good friend, who screens our programmes on his Intercape buses which travel right up to Mozambique and Zambia
  • We are so excited to let you know our new book, “A RUSHING MIGHTY WIND” is due to be released in bookshops countrywide in June. A brand new DVD series: “ANGUS BUCHAN ON … STARTING THE JOURNEY” has also just been released in most bookshops and these can also be ordered online.

With regards to the family, all our grandchildren are growing up far too quickly! Jill and I are so blessed all of our children live within an 1 hour’s drive and we are able to see our grandchildren very often. Our two girls are playing representative hockey and we are so proud of them, please keep praying for our family because that is one area where the devil targets.

So please continue to pray for us that by the grace of our Lord Jesus, we continue to speak the truth in love, by bringing a simplistic message, but one that will first of all challenge and most of all encourage people to trust in the living God.

God bless

Yours in Christ

Angus, Jill and the Shalom team
