Dear Friends
A very blessed and happy new year to you. As you get this newsletter, the first month of the year has already passed. Last week, I was given a day’s notice to fly to Israel. God TV invited me to do some work over in Israel, they are doing a wonderful job spreading the Word of God around the world. Please keep them in your prayers, as well as TBN, who faithfully screen Christian material on television. I was deeply touched to hear from Rory and Wendy Alec (the CEO’s of God TV) on arriving in Israel, that the theme for this year is ‘REVIVAL’.
We spent one day flying over the entire state of Israel, in a helicopter. I had a bird’s eye view of the country Jesus served and loved. The helicopter landed on top of a mountain, the mountain was adjacent to Masada. Masada was a mountain fortress used by Jews who rebelled against the Roman empire - they refused to bow their knee to Caesar. The Jews lived on top of the mountain and the Romans could not defeat them. Eventually the Romans built a ramp out of soil, it took them approximately five years to reach the top of the mountain, so that they could conquer the remnant of the Jews. When the Romans reached the fortress they found that all the Jews had committed suicide, the last person to kill himself was the high priest.
I felt stirred up and emotional looking across that range, there is absolutely nothing there, just desert – It is almost on top of the Dead Sea. I felt so encouraged to press on and to finish the race, as I looked across the huge canyon to Masada. In these last days, we need to stand firm just like those Jewish people did. We should not tolerate compromise in any way, in our lives; in our families, in our businesses and in our communities. I want to encourage you to really get close to the Lord this year, spend time reading the word of God and read Christian literature that will build up your spirit man.
As I travel around the world, the thing which startles me most, more than blatant opposition to Christian faith from other religions, is the compromise within our Christian faith. Liberal Christianity is slowly poisoning our stand for the Lord. I think of the illustration of the frog and the pot of water: if you put a frog in a cold pot of water and light a fire beneath the pot, the water will warm up slowly, and the frog will remain in the pot until it is boiled to death. If the water had been boiling and you threw a frog into the pot, it would have jumped straight out. That is the subtleness of the devil, he slowly but surely infiltrates our lives through compromise. We need to be like those from Masada, who were steadfast and immovable in their faith.
The scripture that God has laid on my heart is Philippians 3:12-14, we need to press on towards the goal of the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. We need to lay hold of the call that God has put on our lives.
Philippians 3:12-14
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
I will be going back to the Feast of the Tabernacles as a speaker, this year and I will also be joining the God TV Israel tour. Please pray for these trips, Israel has become such a vital part of my life. On 3rd May we will be heading to Nashville Tennessee, to hold a men's conference in a 16000 seater, indoor, basketball stadium. The conference is being organised by Allen Jackson and Malcolm Heading. I am very excited about this meeting, I believe God is going to move powerfully amongst the American people. I have such a burden for the USA , I know God has great plans in store for them as they bow the knee to the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are excited about all the Mighty Men’s Conferences taking place throughout the world this year; we know of at least eleven… the revival continues to grow.
Our television programs continue to go around the world. I would ask you to pray for strength and for inspiration for our producer, George Carpenter and the Grassroots team.
I am working on two books which I hope to see released shortly: 'The Booth' is about having quiet times, the other is 'A Rushing Mighty Wind'- a story of revival.
At home base, our family is growing up. Three of my grandsons started school for the first time this year, we have two left and then all nine will be at school. I thank God for family every single day.
The farming is going well with lots of challenges, but it wouldn't be farming if it didn't have any challenges.
Jill is doing an amazing job at the Children's Home . Three of our oldest boys have matriculated and have left school this year. Sipho will be heading to The Natal Sharks Academy with a full bursary. Bongani is training to be an electrician, and Vincent is aiming to train as a paramedic.
May God bless you richly as you continue to put your faith in Him and live a life of no compromise.
Yours in Christ, Angus, Jill and the Shalom team.

SHALOM MINISTRIES: PRAYER LETTER (1/2013)
21 January 2013
Dear Prayer Partners
I want to thank all of you that have faithfully prayed and interceded for Angus over the years but more particularly during the course of last year. The climax of last year was indeed the unique and sovereign visitation of the Holy Spirit in the form of a real and powerful mighty wind at the Feast of Tabernacles at Ein Gedi in Israel. A short clip of this incident is available on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqK3jWgY81o. A booklet and a DVD covering this incident are also available at CUM Books. I would like to encourage you to either view this miraculous event on YouTube or to purchase a copy at CUM. This will encourage you all the more to continue in prayer for Angus. This will also give credence to the fact that God hears our prayers. Not even the ‘mighty’ Paul could go without prayer. He encouraged the Ephesians to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. To stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the Saints and for him personally so that he may be given the ability to preach the mystery of the Gospel with boldness as an ambassador in chains.(Eph 6:18-20). Let us embrace this portion of scripture for the ensuing year and make it a reality in our service to all the saints as well as Angus.
I would like for us to unite in the following prayer for ourselves for the ensuing year:
‘Dear Heavenly Father we thank you for the privilege that we have to make our prayers and petitions known to you. We thank you for all the great things that happened last year and that we could pray into all these things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit. You have indeed done exceedingly abundantly, above all that we could ask or think through your Power that worked in Angus and us that prayed for him. Set us apart again Lord to fulfil the plans that you have for us in this ministry so that Your great name may be glorified. In Jesus’ name we pray so that our prayers may be heard and answered.’
It is a fact that the natural man becomes weaker as it grows older. Contrariwise the spiritual man grows stronger, aiming for full maturity to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Let us therefore be vigilant and continue to pray for our brother’s physical strength not neglecting praying also for God’s grace to keep him spiritually strong and growing in grace.
Please pray fervently for the following important events:
25 January Shalom Trust Trustee Meeting: The Trustees are men of great wisdom and integrity, men of valour and fervent for the Lord’s work. Pray that they may continue to hear from the Lord in order to correctly give guidance to Angus.
8 February Michael House School: One of the top private schools in South Africa where some of our country’s most prominent men were taught. There are many of our future leaders in training at this facility. What an opportunity!
20 February Container Ministry: The name speaks for itself. Makeshift ministry, uplifting the poor and needy with the ability to raise up mighty men and women for God.
24 February North West University: Many of our Universities do not have a good reputation anymore. Let us pray for a revival at this place that it may set the scene for a great revival in all the Universities in our beloved country.
May the love of God overwhelm you.
