Dear Friends

We greet you in Jesus precious name at this very exciting time in the history of the world.
Like never before, people are searching for the truth.  The scripture that comes to mind at the moment is Phil.4:6 which says, 'Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God'.

I have just returned from George in the Southern Cape.  I saw something I have never seen before in my life.  On a Tuesday afternoon, a working day, the whole town came to a standstill, from the Mayor's office right down to the school children.  They congregated at the Outeniqua Rugby Stadium.  There was in excess of 14000 people there, packed into the grandstands and on the field.  The announcer had to ask the crowd on the field to move closer to the platform to enable the people waiting outside to come in.  There is a tremendous need in people's lives today, like never before, to meet with God.

They came together to pray for rain.  That area is experiencing the worst drought in 135 years.  Although everything looks green, it is what they call a 'green drought', if you dig 2 inches under the ground, everything is bone dry.

But God is faithful!  Many of us are gripped in the middle of the recession, others are struggling and fighting with moral issues, relationship and health issues.  God has a word for us, He asks us 'what good has worry ever accomplished?'  A man by the name of Darlow Sargeant says 'it has never made anyone stronger, it has never helped anyone to do God's will, or provided for anyone a way of escape out of their anxiety or confusion.  Worry only destroys the effectiveness of lives that would otherwise be useful and beautiful'.

As we concluded that meeting, many, many souls, up to two-thirds of the crowd, made first time commitments publically in the sight of everyone and especially in the sight of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We then asked God to send us rain, first the spiritual and then the physical.  I believe that rain is on its way, a good steady soaking rain to get the streams and rivers running and to fill the dams.

I want to encourage you too, my friend, to pray that God would do the same in your life, first the spiritual and then the physical, that God would comfort you and that He would defend and deliver you, as He has always done in the past.  Speak to your soul today and say 'return to your place of peace and rest within the sweet embrace of the Lord Jesus Christ'.

Phil.4:7 says 'And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus'.

May God bless you richly.

Dear Friends

I greet you in Jesus precious name.  I have just returned from the Emerald Isle (Ireland) and what a beautiful country it is!  It is mid-summer there and when we arrived in the south-west of Northern Ireland, 20 miles from the border of the Republic of Ireland, we were confronted with long days and short nights.  We saw men working flatout cutting fields and making grass silage.  The efficiency boggled my mind!  They would come into a field of maybe 10 acres and they would finish it in a couple of hours and you could have played a game of bowls on it afterwards, it was so neat.  What a beautiful country and what beautiful, gentle people, they are so generous and so gracious!  I just love to  hear the way they speak, when they speak it is as if they sing.

While waiting for the first meeting at a large indoor equestrian centre, with over 3000 seats put out, I wondered 'Lord, what am I going to tell these people, they seem to have everything'.  It was only once the meetings started that we realised that what they were looking for was what everybody in this world is looking for and that is 'peace'.  That can only be found, of course, through the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.  He has told us that there will be no peace in this world until He returns, but we can find peace in our own hearts.  John 16:33, 'These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world'.  That is exactly what happened in Ireland.

After the first meeting when Brian Keys, the organiser of the event, was driving us home, he was weeping.  His parents had given their lives to Christ that night.  It was amazing, the 'dam broke'.  We saw ultra rightwing Protestants sitting next to Roman Catholics.  I can only illustrate that by suggesting to you that it would be like Julius Malema sitting next to Eugene Terreblanche.  God did a mighty work!  There was a lot of brokenness, a lot of weeping and repenting.

That is what God is expecting us to do in these last days, to make us reconcilers.  I looked up the word 'reconcile' in the Oxford dictionary and it means 'bringing together' or 'to restore friendly relations'.  God gave me a picture of a box of Pratley's putty, there are two types of putty in there and they will not blend or bond together unless an accelerator is added.  When you put a few drops of the accelerator amongst the putty and mix it up and leave it it gets hard as rock and cannot be separated.  That is what I believe God wants you and me to do, to become His ambassadors.  In 2 Cor.5:20 He has called us to be ambassadors, to reconcile man to God and man with man.  It is as simple as that and it is absolutely amazing.  I think I preached the most simple messages that I have ever preached in my life and the response was overwhelming.  We thank God for that!  Be encouraged to just keep on telling people what Jesus means to you.  That is what preaching the gospel is all about, one hungry beggar showing another hungry beggar where to find bread.

God bless you and please keep praying for us, as we pray for you. Thank you for your love and your prayers.
Yours in Christ,
