Dear Friends
I greet you in Jesus Precious Name!
I trust that this letter finds you well and praising the Lord. I cannot believe how the time is flying past at the moment.
I recently had the privilege to speak at Neville Nordan's church in Pretoria, Lewende Woord where we saw the power of God once again. Many souls come to Christ. I also met Rick Joyner, the prophet from America and he said two things in one of his talks that really opened my eyes wide. He said in these last days the two major threats on the Christian church are 1. Racialism and 2. Pride. Rationalism in that not just black against white but right across the board, ethnic rationalism and rationalism taking place in the Middle East and in fact all over the world between different culture groups, different genders and age groups. Pride always comes before a fall. If we look around we will see it happening all over the place.
As I am writing you this letter I am about to prepare to go to Nashville Tennessee USA. I have a tremendous burden for the people in the USA. I have never had this burden before. I really believe that God is calling me there with a specific message. The American people are always the first ones to put their hands up when there is hardship in any nation. Whether it is a tsunami or a disaster like an earthquake, they are the first there, yet they seem to get the blame for everything. I really feel they need help and encouragement. I feel very honoured to be able to speak at the 700 Club (a television broadcasting station) with a very well respected theologian in America, Pat Robertson. His program has been on television for over forty years. While I am over in the States, we will be flying to the World Outreach Church where we have been invited by Pastor Alan Jackson and Pastor Malcolm Hedding to speak to the men and also to the church at large. Please pray for me for direction.
I believe on this trip that God is going to show me the next chapter in our service for Him. It is very exciting, but the Lord has also shown me that we need to excercise our patience. The Latin word for patience is suffering. If we are not prepared to suffer, we cannot be prepared to be used by God. It is as simple as that. When we look at that scripture in Romans 5:3 & 4, where Paul says “I rejoice in my sufferings (tribulations) because that works patience...” Without patience we can not be used by God. So if you are going through a hard time at the moment, do not despair. Out of the hardships, God will teach us many lessons and one of them will be patience. If we remember the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane they could not wait up for the Lord, not even for one hour. He was very distraught with the situation…they were tired. Patience requires lots of discipline. God is calling for his men and woman to be disciplined in these last days.
On the 9th August, Jill and I remembered the day so clearly when we arrived at this place that we now call Shalom, thirty five years ago. I was just 29 years old and turned 30 four days before we arrived. Jill was only 27 years old and six months pregnant with Fergie our son, three little children in hand: Andy seven, Lindi six and Robyn about three years old. When we arrived here there was no house, no telephone (no cell phones in those days), no lights, no water, not even a toilet. We hired a little caravan for R200.00 and that is where we started. I can not believe that thirty five years has gone by already. We thank God that there is a Church on Shalom, we have a Children's Home and there is a school on the neighbouring farm which I have managed for twenty years. We have been able to continue farming successfully and expanded our farming operation. Our sons are running the farm now. The Ministry is still growing. What a Mighty God we serve! I think of that scripture "Ebenezer" which means “thus far God has been with us”. Even as Samuel built an altar of stones, so have we just outside the little chapel and it has been there for so many years ago. We thank God for his faithfulness towards us and I want to thank you for your faithfulness towards us as well. Without your love, your prayer and your support we would have not made it this far.
But be assured of one thing, we are not finished by any means. We are ready for the next faze God is calling us to. The movie “Ordinary People” is doing so well. I thank God for his work, for Peter Scott and FC Hamman, who had the vision to see the film fulfilled. “Faith Like Potatoes” is still doing very well in America and is also being shown in Moscow, Russia. May God bless you as you continue to run the race for Him. The older I am getting the more I am realising it is not how well you start that counts but it’s how well you finish. So let's press on towards the goal of our high calling in Jesus Christ. (Philippians 3: 12).
Yours in Christ
