Dear Brethren
John Wesley said the definition of revival is 'a people saturated with God'. I have just returned from John Wesley's country, from England, and that is exactly what we experienced. First and foremost the devil just did not want us to get there. I have never had so many obstructions in my life, from not being able to get a visa and then getting the visa, a special one as well, to boarding an aeroplane, getting halfway to Johannnesburg and then having to turn back because of engine problems and eventually almost missing our connecting flight to England, but once we got there we understood why. There had been so much prayer put into that Men's Conference in Worcester at David and Di Harper's Top Barn farm. There were approximately 2500 men there, 800 of them South Africans - what a pleasure - I am so proud to be a South African! Many men dug deep into their own pockets in this time of recession and paid for their airfares just to come and support us. There were men from Namibia, from South Africa and all over the United Kingdom and the Lord met us in a very special way. The gist of the whole weekend was obviously aimed at family relationships and principles but on a point of holiness. If we look at Hebrews 12:14 it says 'without holiness no man shall see the Lord'. That is exactly what happened.
On the Sunday morning, when all the women and children joined us, the Lord really visited us in a special way. A young Downs Syndrome man really stole the show. He was so open, everytime I made an altarcall during the weekend he responded first. He was heckling me in a very special way, not in an antagonistic way but in a loving way because he really loved me. Alistair was his name. Everytime I would say something, he would acknowledge it and wanted to give me a big hug and kiss. He was walking around with the South African flag draped around his shoulders, somebody had given it to him. I had to laugh on the Sunday morning when Richard Nicol announced that there was a DVD of the whole weekend for sale and gave the purchase price, Alistair stood up and shouted 'you must be joking!' This just brought the house down!
We had an amazing weekend with much weeping and tears and many Amens! From there we boarded a train to London and raced down to the City Temple where we were welcomed by the SA Gemeente where the church was bulging at the seams. We thank God for Pastor Dawie van Vuuren and his dear wife, Alma and their children, who also put us up for the night. After having preached the gospel of Jesus Christ and praying for healing the meeting ended. The people were leaving rejoicing, having recommitted their lives when all of a sudden a young Afrikaans guy came up and grabbed me by the arm and, with tears running down his face, asked me to please marry him and his girlfriend before we left. We went back into the church, followed by the crowd. After he had proposed to her in front of the church, which was deeply moving, another four couples came up. I could almost smell the fragrance of fresh flowers from heaven as God was honouring these young couples as they made a decision not to live lives of compromise again. There were 5 couples married there and 7 couples earlier that morning in Worcester, 12 couples in one day! I want to say to you my dear friends that this is the fruits of revival and revival only comes when we start getting real with God and we start to repent.
I am still praying and seeking the face of the Lord with regard to a MMC next year. Please keep me in your prayers, we want it to be a God thing and not just a good idea. Thank you for your prayers and love which means so much to Jill and I and the team. Keep them in your prayers, we have many campaigns to do this year and we are trusting that the Lord Jesus Christ will give us the strength to do so.
Yours in Christ's service
Angus & Jill and all at Shalom
